Bulgarian Rivers:
Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a country that has many large rivers flowing from its high mountain ranges through to
other rivers and seas in Bulgaria or neighbouring countries like Greece and Turkey.
The majority of these rivers are tributaries to the colossal river Danube, or they flow through
Bulgaria and out into the Aegean Sea.

Rivers in Bulgaria have an important role in the history and growth of the country as most cities
and towns are situated on the banks of a river or have a river flowing through them. This is due
to early settlements like the Thracian civilisation where the water from the rivers was extremely
important to food production during these times.
