When the weather turns cold, and the mountain peaks turn white with a blanket of snow,
Bulgaria turns into a fashionable ski resort.

Many from outside Bulgaria are not aware that Bansko, Borovitz and Pamporovo are top
locations for wiping the dust off those skis or snowboards hidden away in the cupboard, and
venturing down those slopes at high speed.
It is a tradition that all the Bulgarian students go to the ski resorts on their student holidays (8th
December), to enjoy a weekend of fun at the trendy bars, restaurants and hotels that adorn the
mountain areas.

One of the great reasons for those from outside Bulgaria venturing to the mountains is the
price. We all know that ski resorts cost an arm and a leg to visit on a yearly basis, but to visit
Bulgaria is still reasonably priced as it is not a well known destination for skiing.

Although the price is low, we can tell you that you will be surprised by the quality of all the hotels,
bars and restaurants, many of which are new, that you can visit. The hospitality in Bulgaria is
also second to none, with the majority of Bulgarians speaking English, German, Russian,
French or Italian.

We only have one word of warning for anyone wishing to travel to Bulgaria for a skiing holiday
of a lifetime, you will have so much fun that you will not wish to leave.
