Mountain Bulgaria:
Bulgaria
There are many different mountain formations found in Bulgaria, these make up the Stara
Planina mountain range which cuts through Bulgaria from west to East.
The most famous mountains in Bulgaria are the largest mountains, Rila and Pirin.

The Rila Mountain towers above Bulgaria with Musala, the highest peak being 2925 metres
above sea level.
The Pirin Mountain, situated in the south western region of Bulgaria, has a highest peak called
Vihren that sits 2914 metres in height.
With natural thermal springs, large lakes and snow capped peaks; the mountains in Bulgaria
have the perfect setting for a variety of different plant and animal life from wolves to bears and
spruce trees to Edelweiss.
In more recent years many of the mountains have been used as ski resorts bringing many
people from Bulgaria, and elsewhere in Europe for winter vacations.
