Plovdiv International Fair:
Bulgaria
The Plovdiv International Fair is an industrial and agricultural exhibition centre that is the largest
and oldest in Bulgaria.
Established in 1892 the Plovdiv International Fair is also one of the oldest exhibition centres for
trade and industry in Europe.

In its first year operating as an exhibition centre the Plovdiv International Fair had an overall
area of ninety two thousand square metres and had companies from twenty four countries
along with one hundred and sixty thousand visitors in the first three months alone.
In 1933 the Plovdiv International Fair held a national industry exhibition which drew a crowd of
one hundred and twenty thousand visitors along with four hundred and twenty four companies
exhibiting their wares.
With the success of the first national industry exhibition the Plovdiv International Fair held a
second exhibition in 1934, this was so much of a success that the fair was then given the title of
the official and only national exhibition centre in Bulgaria.
Although the fair was called an international fair it was not officially an international fair until
1936 when it gained membership to the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry by having
1385 national and international companies taking part in its exhibitions.

Today the Plovdiv International Fair is the largest in south eastern Europe with an overall size of
three hundred and sixty thousand square metres with twenty four different pavilions.
With over forty shows held each year the Plovdiv International Fair now enjoys over seven
thousand companies exhibiting their products and services from over fifty eight countries
worldwide.
