The river Iskar runs through Bulgaria for three hundred and sixty eight kilometres from its

Rila mountains before joining the river Danube. The river Iskar is formed by

On its journey to the Danube the Iskar river passes through the provinces of
Sofia, Pleven,
Pernik and Lovech.
The Iskar is a wide and shallow river that with a basin area of eight thousand six hundred and
forty six square kilometres and is the only river to start its life in the south of Bulgaria and cross
the mountain ranges to become a tributary of the river Danube.
